Hole #1
Par 4 Handicap: 7 (M) / 7 (W)
402
381
356
288
Hole Description
The uphill par 4 is well
defined by bunkers both on the inside and outside of the fairway on this
dogleg left opening hole. A tee shot finding the fairway will face an
uphill second to a blind putting surface sitting above the player. Be sure
to carry your approach to the green as Mr. Dye introduces you to the first
of many false fronts that await.
Hole #2
Par 5 Handicap: 1 (M) / 9 (W)
615
573
519
441
Hole Description
This long par 5 has seen
little change from its original design when it opened in 1967. The left
side of the fairway is well protected by bunkers that come in to play on
your tee and second shot as the hole softly doglegs twice to the left. The
smallish green is well bunkered and features strong contours that flow
from left to tight on the putting surface.
Hole #3
Par 3 Handicap: 15 (M) / 15 (W)
220
192
152
121
Hole Description
This front nine par 3 is downhill and downwind and can play up to 230 yards in length. It features a large, deep bunker complex guarding the right side of the green. Look for most approach shots to favor the left half side of the green which is slightly shorter and more accessible.
Hole #4
Par 4 Handicap: 13 (M) / 11 (W)
409
372
334
299
Hole Description
The first of four holes running west to east, the dogleg left par 4 will require a precise tee shot to negotiate the bunkers down the right side and the trees left. Once in the fairway, the player will have a relatively short approach shot with the day’s hole location quickly dictating strategy. The right half of the green is more open and receptive while the left half of the green is shallow and fronted by a large, deep bunker.
Hole #5
Par 3 Handicap: 17 (M) / 17 (W)
215
189
154
112
Hole Description
Measuring up to 225 yards in length the par 3 fifth features an ample landing area giving players the opportunity (similar to hole #3) to play along the ground and onto the putting surface. Playing slightly uphill, the green has a narrow opening and is guarded by bunkers right and left, club selection is important if the player is to reach the putting surface safely.
Hole #6
Par 4 Handicap: 11 (M) / 3 (W)
451
403
392
341
Hole Description
Originally a par 5 this hole is now a longer, downhill par 4. Cross bunkers have been removed and replaced by a lone fairway bunker on the left side. Once the player safely avoids the bunker from the tee he should have a mid-iron approach to a wide green that features one of Pete’s many false fronts on the left and a deep bunker guarding the right hand side.
Hole #7
Par 4 Handicap: 9 (M) / 5 (W)
395
375
325
288
Hole Description
The picturesque par 4 plays uphill and right to left as the players complete their “west to east run” and turn for home. A tee shot that favors the right side of the fairway will be left with a shorter iron to a large green that sits above the player and slopes gently away and to the left rear.
Hole #8
Par 4 Handicap: 5 (M) / 13 (W)
400
376
355
288
Hole Description
Player’s tee shots must carry or avoid the fairway bunkering on the inside of the dogleg right to position themselves for a short iron approach. An option is to play the right side of this split fairway but that leaves the player with a more challenging shot to this smaller elevated green that is well bunkered.
Hole #9
Par 5 Handicap: 3 (M) / 1 (W)
540
498
467
417
Hole Description
The par 5 finishing 9th hole plays uphill and into the prevailing wind. Longer players who negotiate the fairway bunkering down the right will have a chance at this narrow, undulated green with their second shot. Look for most players to lay up and play a short iron third shot. Only a well struck approach will find this small target that falls away on three of its four sides!
Hole #10
Par 4 Handicap: 14 (M) / 18 (W)
366
321
298
260
Hole Description
This short, reachable par 4 looks very inviting from the tee box, but don't be fooled. When the courses first opened in 1967 this was #1 on the North course. As he has done with many of his designs, Pete Dye tempts the player with a "benign" appearing opening hole. Often inducing the player to pull out their driver and swing away at the green, be forewarned, water stretches down the entire left side of the hole, tee shots finding the well bunkered right side will face a shot into a small severely pitched green (another of Pete's trademarks) . A tee shot of 225 yards (green tees) will put the player in position for an approach of approximately 100 yards.
Hole #11
Par 4 Handicap: 10 (M) / 12 (W)
414
392
365
269
Hole Description
This soft dogleg left par 4 features fairway bunkering and a right to left sloping fairway placing accuracy on the player’s tee shot. The approach shot must be placed accurately into this large sloping green which features many challenging hole locations and is bunkered on the left side.
Hole #12
Par 3 Handicap: 18 (M) / 14 (W)
160/194
130/138
104/138
95/129
Hole Description
This beautiful par 3 features water, sand and a unique horseshoe shaped green. Tee shots to the large, generous front green will range from 95 to 160 yards. When the pin is placed in back, the shot will range from 129 to 194 yards to a green that is half the size!
Hole #13
Par 5 Handicap: 2 (M) / 4 (W)
583
551
483
432
Hole Description
This challenging par 5 plays into the prevailing breeze and is unreachable except for the longest of hitters. Most players will layup in two for a short to mid-iron third shot. Players who have positioned their ball to the left and short of the pin will be rewarded with a straighter, uphill putt on this long, undulating green.
Hole #14
Par 4 Handicap: 8 (M) / 8 (W)
472
439
356
312
Hole Description
The dogleg left par 4 was originally a par 5 that Pete Dye remodeled into a long par 4. A player's tee shots will need to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left side of the fairway to gain the best angle of approach for a difficult second shot.
Hole #15
Par 4 Handicap: 12 (M) / 6 (W)
441
396
355
297
Hole Description
This
dogleg right par will again play into the prevailing wind and players tee shots
must avoid the fairway bunkers located on the inside of the dogleg. The
second shots must be accurately gauged into the long undulating green which
stretches 50 yards from front to back.
Hole #16
Par 4 Handicap: 4 (M) / 10 (W)
356
337
325
293
Hole Description
This shorter par 4 (typically playing downwind) will yield its share of birdies. A tee shot of 220-240 yards will leave the player a 120-140 yard approach, the green flat by comparison to others, is guarded by a trademark Dye bunker in front, deep and unforgiving!
Hole #17
Par 3 Handicap: 16 (M) / 16 (W)
195
171
151
115
Hole Description
This hole remains almost exactly as Pete designed it, a 130-180 yd. par 3, with an offset opening on the left and a green that flows left to right. The depth of the green (35 yards) is hidden by the top lip of the front bunker.
Hole #18
Par 5 Handicap: 6 (M) / 2 (W)
633
552
505
430
Hole Description
Only the longest of hitters will reach this dogleg left par 5. Most players will try to favor the right side of this heavily contoured fairway in hopes of keeping their tee shot in the short grass. A second shot lay-up of 200 +/- yards should leave a third shot of approximately 110-130 yards, be watchful of the false front waiting to pull your approach shot back off the green.
